I received my first Kyocera knife (4.5" Utility) lately earlier this Christmas and immediately purchased this block to maintain it (and a pair of other Kyocera knives...eventually) safe within the drawer. My first impression is it was quite large for any block that only holds 3 knives, but once i thought it about this, I can tell why. Because of the relative delicate character of ceramic rotor blades, it's obvious that Kyocera might have over-built this block to provide their rotor blades the very best chance feasible for a lengthy existence. It's heavy enough that even when you stay at home on finish, unsecured to some wall (that we wouldn't recommend), the probability of it tipping over without some serious assistance is slim. The block can also be reduce in an position were the rotor blades satisfy the handle to ensure that knives will not drop out of if even when expected over from a vertical position. Apart from utilizing it to keep very staid Kyocera ceramic rotor blades, this is the perfect knife block for minimalist cooks and/or individuals who've refined their knife abilities to the stage where they think they just have 3 quality knives with the cooking.
